In 1997 Lok Hospital opened its doors with a mission
to show Christ's love by providing medical care
to those in need. Originally, Lok Hospital was a
two-story 30-bed hospital with consulting rooms,
X-ray department, laboratory, and an operating room.
Since 1997 Lok Hospital has grown significantly,
almost doubling in size with the addition of a six-bed
ICU, 4-bed NICU, new eye and ENT specialty departments,
and more patient care rooms. It is currently recognized
as one of the premiere hospitals in the area.
Lok Hospital continues to provide over fifty percent
of its care free of charge to those who need it
most while requiring those with sufficient resources
to pay for the medical care. Through this system,
Lok Hospital has been self-sufficient in everyday
operating expenses since its conception. The resources
for new departments and facilities are mostly provided
through private donations and non-profit organizations.
Lok Hospital is owned and managed by the Bethany
Trust based in Thane, India and also supported by
the Thana Trust in the UK and US-based organizations
such as Samaritan's Purse.
